Vanguard LB-40S Low-Profile Dual-Axis Ball Head with ARCA-Compatible Quick Release, 11 lb. Capacity

The Vanguard LB-40S is a premium, ultra-lightweight dual-axis tripod ball head designed for photographers who want precise camera positioning, smooth movement, and dependable support without adding unnecessary weight to their gear. Featuring a compact, low-profile design, precision CNC-machined aluminum construction, and an 11-lb. load capacity, the LB-40S is an excellent choice for travel photography, landscape shooting, and everyday adventures with mirrorless cameras or compact DSLR systems.

When you're traveling light, every ounce matters. Whether you're packing a travel tripod for a weekend getaway, hiking to a scenic overlook, or exploring a new city with your camera, the LB-40S delivers impressive functionality in a remarkably portable package. Weighing just 0.5 lbs. and standing approximately 2.8 inches tall, this compact ball head minimizes bulk while providing the stability and control needed to capture sharp, carefully composed images.

The LB-40S features an innovative dual-axis design with two independent 360° panning axes, giving photographers greater flexibility when composing and adjusting their shots. After leveling your camera using the ball head, the secondary upper panning axis allows you to rotate and reframe your composition while maintaining a level horizon. This added versatility is especially valuable for panoramic landscape photography, architectural images, cityscapes, and situations where precise horizontal adjustments make a difference.

At the center of the head is an oversized 1-inch ball that provides stable camera support and smooth, controlled positioning. Adjustable friction control allows you to fine-tune ball resistance to match the weight of your equipment and your preferred shooting style, making it easier to position your camera accurately before locking it into place. Repositionable locking knobs for the main ball and upper panning axis offer additional convenience, allowing you to adjust their orientation for easier access in different shooting configurations.

Precision CNC-machined aluminum construction delivers a refined balance of durability, smooth operation, and lightweight portability. The compact 1.6-inch base integrates neatly with smaller travel tripods and monopods, while the low-profile design helps maintain a streamlined camera support system. Whether you're shooting horizontal landscapes, vertical compositions, or carefully aligned architectural scenes, the LB-40S provides the flexibility to position your camera with confidence.

For fast, convenient camera attachment, the LB-40S features an ARCA-compatible quick-release system and includes Vanguard's QS-45H quick-release plate. This versatile connection allows photographers to attach or remove compatible camera setups efficiently and provides compatibility with a broad range of ARCA-style equipment. A standard 3/8-inch mounting thread, along with an included 1/4-inch adapter, makes the head suitable for use with many tripods and monopods.

From travel and landscape photography to architecture, outdoor adventures, and everyday creative shooting, the Vanguard LB-40S combines premium construction, dual-axis precision, and convenient quick-release functionality in an exceptionally compact design. For photographers seeking a lightweight tripod ball head that delivers greater compositional control without weighing down their equipment bag, the LB-40S is a versatile and practical solution.
